Linda Semadeni
Sliding through the Corridors
Für ihre Ausstellung Sliding through the Corridors bemalte Linda Semadeni (*1985 in Bern, lebt und arbeitet in Zürich) den Boden der Halle für Kunst. Über zwei Wochen ist vor Ort so eine raumspezifische Bodenmalerei entstanden, die Bezug auf eine Anekdote der Malerin Lee Lozano nimmt. Angelehnt sind die Worte und Teilsätze in der Malerei an eine Seite aus den Notebooks von Lozano – eine Reihe von Ringbüchern mit Skizzen für malerische Vorhaben, Aufzeichnungen und textbasierten Arbeiten.
Lozano gab in einem der Notebooks eine Unterhaltung mit dem Kurator Kasper König wieder, dem sie den Satz „You are a good painter and a nice girl!“ in den Mund legte. Lozano antwortete darauf: „Wrong on both counts, I’m am a very good painter and not a nice girl!“.[1] Es ist die Art und Weise wie Lozano hier die Aussage über die Qualität ihrer Malerei korrigiert und sich der Zuschreibung entzieht, die Semadeni in ihrer ortsspezifischen Arbeit interessiert. Semadenis Sätze werden zu einer Art Mantra, die vereinfachte Lesarten und Deutungen feministischer Parolen im Neoliberalismus hinterfragen und diese in der Wiederholung, Dehnung und Verdrehung in einem ’bad painting’ auflösen.
Anlässlich der Ausstellung hat die in Berlin lebende Autorin und Musikerin Theresa Patzschke einen Text verfasst, der in der Halle für Kunst ausliegt und auf der Webseite heruntergeladen werden kann.
